The Story

A name rooted in Jamestown.

VDP Residence Beach House carries the name of the Vanderpuye family, one of Ghana’s most prominent lineages — a story woven into the making of modern Jamestown.

The family’s history traces back to the first Vanderpuye, who travelled from Belgium to Accra generations ago and became part of the fabric of Ghana’s capital. Today, the family’s chief has entrusted the land to this project — a family-and-community endeavour, not a speculative build.

It is a homecoming, taking shape on the same Atlantic shore that has shaped the family’s story for centuries.

The Vision

A modern beach residence, designed for how people actually live today.

Concept imagery only — final architecture will be shaped by the team we’re assembling now.

01

Ten floors on the Atlantic

Stepped terraces, so every home looks out uninterrupted to the Gulf of Guinea.

02

Rooftop infinity pool

A pool that dissolves into the horizon line, paired with a solar array that powers the building.

03

Built to weather the storm

Weathered hardwoods, pigmented concrete, bronze, terracotta — materials chosen for the coastal climate.

04

Passive cooling throughout

Cross-ventilation, shading, and native landscaping stabilising the dune — cool without working for it.

05

Adinkra-inspired sun screens

Pattern-cut facades that filter light, pay homage to Ghanaian symbolism, and modulate privacy.

06

Authentically Ghanaian

Unmistakably modern, rooted in Jamestown — not transplanted from Miami or Dubai.

Live & Work

A creative hub at ground level.

The ground floor opens onto a co-working space designed for residents, remote workers, and the Jamestown creative community. Long tables, quiet rooms, a café, and shaded courtyards — a place to work that feels like the Atlantic is three steps away, because it is.

Designed for the rhythms of a modern diaspora — a generation that works across time zones, and wants to do it with the sea in view and community within arm’s reach.

The Beach Resort

A private resort, right out front.

Shaded cabanas, a beach club, a pool, and direct access to the sand. A place where the workday ends at the water.

Jamestown

The creative heart of Accra.

Jamestown is Ghana’s oldest district — a dense, layered neighbourhood where century-old lighthouses meet contemporary galleries, boxing gyms, and recording studios. It is where Accra’s creative energy converges on the Atlantic.

This is not a resort compound walled off from the city. It is a residence woven into the rhythm of a neighbourhood that has been making modern Ghanaian culture for decades.

An invitation to come home.
